Ministerial Inquiry into Sustainable Transport
In May 2003 the NSW Minister of Transport Services requested an inquiry into sustainable transport in NSW. This Inquiry, chaired by Professor Tom Parry, released an Interim Report in September 2003.
Many people found the Interim Report disappointing for its narrow interpretation of "sustainability". It seemed to equate this with, in the words of the Warren Centre, "reducing the cost disparity between building, maintaining and operating public transport in NSW and the income to be derived from fares and other sources while improving effectiveness and appropriateness".
David was involved in the development of a response to the Interim Report on behalf of the Transport Panel of the Sydney Division of Engineers Australia. The views expressed are those of the Panel members and not of the Division or the Institution.

The Final Report was released in December 2003.
